The Bonavista Institute for Cultural Tourism’s 2011/2012 schedule includes three executive-level courses that will advance the development of the cultural tourism industry throughout Atlantic Canada.

Building Place: Planning and Developing a Creative Cultural Destination is a place-based approach to destination development that emphasizes the importance of community identity in establishing unique destinations. Sense of place moves beyond the offer of memorable visitor experiences to the creation of memorable destination experiences. 

Profitable Partnerships: Maximizing Cultural Tourism Opportunities explores the fusion of culture and tourism and is focused on strengthening ties between the cultural sector and tourism industry in mutually beneficial ways for both. Visitor experience can be greatly enhanced by using cultural products and likewise, the sustainability of cultural organizations can be strengthened through its link with tourism.

Culinary Tourism and the Arts highlights the role cuisine can play in the development of one-of-kind products for visitors to a region. Together with artistic experiences and unique settings, opportunities abound for integrating local flavours and stories into innovative new products.

Introduction to Cultural Tourism 101 Online Learning Course provides a comprehensive overview of cultural tourism, including the foundational principles and distinguishing characteristics of cultural tourism, as well as insights into the emerging trends in creative tourism and sustainable tourism.
